JOB SUMMARY:

The Defense Health Agency, National Capital Region Medical Directorate (NCR-MD) is the future of Military Medicine- a partnership in World Class Medical Healthcare. The Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the National Intrepid Center of Excellence (NICoE), Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, Dilorenzo Clinic and the Joint Pathology Center, provide world class medical services to the nation's service members and their families.

About the Position:

This position is a Dermatologist with Department of Medicine, at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. The incumbent will primarily see dermatology patients in an outpatient clinic environment Monday - Friday (approximately 16-20 patients per day, not including walk-ins), will complete documentation within 72 hours.

Serves irregular shifts not to exceed 80 hours per two-week pay period. 

This is an open-continuous announcement. The first cut-off will be in 2 weeks, (03/29/2017). After that the cut-off will be every 30 days.

  • In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     Degree: Successful completion of at least a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the U.S. or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country). (MUST submit a copy of your transcripts.)

    Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, a candidate must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an institution accredited for such training

    AND

    Licensure/Certification: Candidate must have a permanent, full land unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico,or a territory of the United States.

    AND

    Residency required: your resume must describe at least 5 years of residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training in the specialty of Dermatology. This required Dermatology experience/training will include skills such as diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers, melanomas, moles, and other tumors of the skin, the management of neoplastic, inflammatory, and infectious skin disorders, and in the recognition of the skin manifestations of systemic (including internal malignancy) diseases. Training in dermatologic surgery and common lasers (hair removal, pulsed dye) is desired. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GP-14).

    • Position includes oncall rotation on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
    • This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
