We can't wait to get to know you! SECU is looking for innovative and collaborative individuals with a passion for service and innovation to join our team as an Intern. The internship will be 6-weeks*, starting on Monday, June 5, 2017, and is located at SECU's headquarters in Linthicum, MD. The ideal candidate must be able to work 32+ hours a week during core hours of Monday -Thursday (some Fridays) 8:00 am-5:00 pm. * Based on business need, the internship may be extended. Responsibilities:As an Intern supporting and assisting the Commercial Lending division, you will have significant learning opportunities on day-to-day projects while gaining exposure to the business services sector of commercial banking and the industry as a whole. This will be accomplished by a rotation amongst three different groups within business services: Business Development/Sales, Underwriting/Credit and Loan Services.Responsibilities include working with management on several assignments to support the business services group with commercial lending initiatives and clients, to include the possibility of field/client visits. The intern will have the opportunity to work with management on multiple tasks and assist in research, analysis and other duties within the respective groups. Primary focus of projects is process improvement and driving efficiencies throughout the commercial loan cycle. Using superior skills in Excel, Access and Database Management, you will help develop/improve current processes regarding: * Annual Loan Reviews* Quarterly Call Reports required by NCUA (National Credit Union Administration)* Managing our Remote Deposit and Treasury Management member base* Credit Card delinquencies Further, you will assist in developing a two-hour Continuing Education Program for our Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) partners. Prior presentations have focused on topics such as consumer fraud, trends in payments and financial ethics. At the end of the internship, you will present to the SECU Leadership Team a recap of your accomplishments and experiences. Qualifications:* Business Major, specializing in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or other related field of study* Must be either a Junior or Senior with a GPA => 3.00* Successful completion of Accounting I & II* Familiarity with financial ratios and ability to analyze and draw conclusions from them* Attention to detail* Excellent verbal and written communication skills* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects at a time* Proficiency MS Office Suite applications, to include Excel, Access and database management* Exposure to finance and accounting through academic or practical hands-on experience* Ability to work well both independently as well as on teams* Highly motivated and energetic* Must have reliable transportation
