About the Position:
As a Community Planner in Department of Facilities Management, Facilities, Planning and Design, you will perform numerous planning and asset management duties to include, but not limited to, hospital campus master planning, project level requirement development, facility project management, and budgeting. Prefer incumbent with a healthcare planning background and experience in automated systems for graphics, for creating presentations and briefs, using computer graphics programs such as Photoshop and Sketchup. Incumbent will exercise considerable freedom in planning work and carrying out assignments.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Degree: Successfully completed a four year degree in community planning; or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, sociology, geography, economics, or political science, public administration or engineering, that included at least 12 semester hours in the planning process, socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, urban and regional economic analysis, and development finance. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
Note: Applicants with degrees in related fields, such as those listed above, who do not have the 12 semester hours of specified course work must have had at least 1 year of work experience equivalent to a GS-11 level in community planning acquired under the supervision and guidance of a community planner.
Successfully completed courses equivalent to a major in one of the above disciplines, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the above disciplines of which at least 12 semester hours were in the planning process, and socioeconomic and physical elements of planning, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: independently manage comprehensive healthcare facility projects and master planning; utilize a variety of automated graphic systems such as: photoshop, RS Means, Sketchup and autocad-bim, for presentations and briefs. Develop and/or implement new or modified policies and/or techniques to resolve healthcare facility planning problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
