Develops, codes, deploys and maintains web applications and websites.

  1. Provides application development and technical support for customer websites.

 2. Collaborates with graphic artists to develop web page graphics that support interactive, marketing-focused content.

 3. Provides technical consultation in new systems development, new package evaluations and enhancements of existing systems.

 4. Prepares functional specifications from which programs will be written, then designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents programs.

 5. Participates in the technical design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of website enhancements.

 6. Plans, schedules and conducts systems tests, monitors test results, and takes appropriate corrective action.

 7. May prepare technical user guides.

 8. May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff.

 9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

 10. Participates in special projects as required.

 

11. Design geospatial technology using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other web technologies to utilize Geospatial tools and technologies to include utilizing ArcGIS tools, PostgreSQL, PostGIS, Common Database (CDB), Open Geospatial Consortium standards, GIS technologies and GIS File types.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and/or Geography or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of related experience in web software development.

Expertise or strong working knowledge of the following:

ESRI ArcGIS tools/Suite

OpenGeo Suite including OpenLayers, GeoServer, PostGIS and QGIS

OGC data formats and web services (WMS, WPS, WFS, etc.)

Sencha Framework

 

Experience using M&S software including JCATS, VBS, JSAF, etc. desired

 

Experience with the OGC CDB, Terra Vista, OpenStreetMap and 3D modeling desired.

 

Should be familiar with common Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) geospatial data formats and web services (WMS, WPS, WFS, etc.), data collection, preprocessing, and use in a web GIS environment.  Applicate should be able to understand a problem/requirement, collect appropriate data, and then build/leverage geospatial tools to solve that problem.  A portfolio of previous work for review would be beneficial.
