City Kids Wilderness Project is looking for energetic and enthusiastic candidates to serve from April through August, 2017 as a Development Intern. We are a non-profit organization founded on the belief that providing enriching life experiences for underserved D.C. children can enhance their lives, the lives of their families and the greater community. In addition, we work to connect under-resourced communities to the outdoors, and provide incredible outdoor adventures in the Washington, DC area, and as far away as Jackson, WY.
City Kids has a small, but active and expanding development department that is responsible for multiple events, individual donor campaigns, grant and proposal development, donor stewardship, communications, and a new Associate Board program. We are looking for a reliable Development Intern with great organizational skills, an attention to detail, a positive outlook, the ability to communicate and connect effectively in person or in writing, and a desire to learn more about fundraising and development in the Washington, DC area. Intern projects would include assisting with data management, event logistics, communications, and other development operations functions.
Interns can expect to learn about fundraising best practices, donor cultivation and stewardship, event management, database/CRM management, and the fundraising market in Washington, DC.
The Development Intern will work from our office at The Josephine Butler Parks Center at 2437 15th St. NW, Washington, DC, on a flexible schedule, 2 days each week with the opportunity to work remotely some days. City Kids is a fast-paced, fun, and supportive environment that takes seriously the need to make our internships dynamic learning experiences.
