The Program Intern has responsibility for assisting in the successful operations of the AnBryce Foundation. The incumbent provides effective coordination of AnBryce services necessary and desirable to support and achieve fulfillment of the mission. This includes but is not limited to interaction with participants and families and providing administrative support to the various programs. The responsibility includes the Saturday Programs; all special mentoring/outreach projects and extends to aspects of the Camp Dogwood Summer Academy.

Reports to: Programs Administrator


General Duties

  • Works closely with the Director of Programs, Director Of Summer Residential Programs and Programs Administrator to accomplish goals and objectives of all AnBryce programming and activities
  • Helps maintain effective communication with the parents/guardians and program participants.
  • Enter and maintain participant records such as student academic and demographic data
  • Prepare binders, manuals and flyers
    • Manage special projects as assigned
    • Research new activities and opportunities for program participants
    • Provide assistance to the AnBryce staff

Mentor Program

  • Prepare and update participant files
  • Communicate with Mentors and families
  • Develop monthly participant newsletter
  • Assist in coordination of mentor program events; such as, training sessions, orientations or group outings

Saturday Programs

  • Assist with program preparation including gathering supplies, copying materials
  • Prepare and update participant files
  • Prepare binders, bulletins, agendas and flyers
  • Correspond with parents via email, phone or in writing about program
  • Assist in the development of a monthly parent newsletter
  • Assist in development and monitoring of accelerated reading program
  • Collect report cards and other academic records from parents
  • Assist in the Saturday Institute
  • Other responsibilities, as required

Camp Dogwood

  • Assist in coordination of parent orientations and camp setup day
  • Communicate with families regarding pre-camp registration
  • Compile parent manual
  • Prepare binders and files for camp and assist in compiling supplies and materials
  • Assist with annual compilation of ACA manual
  • Communicate with partner organizations regarding camper registration
  • Prepares end-of-session camper packets which include Camp Director's letter, evaluation, Curriculum Director's letter, photos and i-Ready assessment results (if necessary).

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Completed two years of college
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to be flexible
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred
  • Ability to develop and make presentations, oral and written
  • Ability to be a team player
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook and social media
  • Be certified or have the ability to be certified in CPR, First Aid and AED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate various concepts to children and adolescents
  • Stay abreast of trends and best practices in youth development

Physical Aspects of the Job

  • Ability to communicate and work with groups of children of various age and skill levels
  • Possess visual and auditory abilities to identify and respond to safety hazards
  • Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of participants
  • Ability to lift supply boxes and other items weighing 25 pounds.
