Desktop Support (Information Technology Technician II)
Provides thorough Tier 2 support to agency information technology analysts and information technology users for basic software and hardware of end-user computing and LAN-based desktop systems. Executes patches and fixes, and troubleshoots problems using enterprise or specialized standards, procedures and scripts; and documents configuration changes and problem resolution. Performs root cause analysis and develops checklists for typical problems for service desk, knowledge and tracking database. Participates in the testing and evaluation of new hardware (desktops, laptops, tablets, mobile devices); enterprise messaging solutions; and implements prototypes. Provides assistance and consultation to customers concerning all aspects of end-user computing, client and LAN systems, software tools and applications. Underlying technologies may include client-server, service-oriented, database, or web-based environments. Works with technical staff across technology disciplines as required in accomplishing work.Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from high school; plus three years of experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting of personal computers, network/telecommunications systems; or possession of an associate degree in computer science, or related field, and one year similar experience.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and driving record check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Considerable knowledge and skill in desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and information technology client technology and personal computer software applications and tools and their implementation. Possesses a working knowledge in a variety of automated tools for diagnosing and solving system problems. Basic knowledge of enterprise messaging systems. Background in network-based systems and/or enterprise systems solutions and architecture. Skill in configuring systems software and hardware components and in performing problem diagnostics, testing and resolution.
Work is generally active and performed in an ever-changing office environment. Ability to lift equipment will be necessary when installing PCs, printers, servers and other computer equipment. Ability to operate a vehicle. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
