Full Time
Position located at Fairfax County WIC site. Provides nutrition services to women, infants, and children, including certification of eligible participants, determining nutritional risk, and prescribing appropriate food packages. Conducts dietary assessments and obtains clinical data. Provides nutrition education and counseling to low-risk clients. Refers high risk clients to nutritionist. Documents all certification and nutrition activities. Duties are performed under the supervision of a senior public health nutritionist.

Note: This position may be underfilled as a Nutritionist Assistant I; the underfill requirements are stated bellow in the Employment Standards section.

Multiple positions may be available at a Fairfax County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) site.
Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a department of education supplemented by college-level course work in nutrition, dietetics or a related field.; plus one year experience as a nutritionist assistant or related field.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Competent Professional Authority (CPA) certification or other related certification. Valid driver's license.

UNDERFILL REQUIREMENTS:
Nutritionist Assistant I, Grade S14 (35,896 - $59,828 Annually)

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to high school graduation or a GED issued by a state department of education; plus completion of two basic nutrition courses; plus one year of work experience involving public contact.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a driving record, and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred candidates will have a college degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field. Bilingual English/Spanish skills desired. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a friendly, service-oriented and professional manner with internal and external customers. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is required to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Uses hands to grasp, handle or feel. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. All duties performed with or without accommodations.
