Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision, the Network Administrator - Associate provides support to all Command and Control Mission Systems (C2MS), their associated software, hardware, configurations, and architectures as a part of the Specialized Automated Mission Suite (SAMS). In this position you will perform a wide range of tasks to include, but not limited to the following:   Maintain, and troubleshoot Airborne Mission Network systems. Coordinate with other agencies on configuration of disparate aircraft data system into the Airborne Mission Network Systems. Design, install and maintain the network system for multiple classifications and coordinates their use. Maintain and review system and security logs. Evaluate hardware, software and peripheral equipment for simple and complex networks. Monitor network performance. Troubleshoot and resolve problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network. Implement network policies, procedures and standards. Enforce security policies. Evaluate, design, document, install, implement, test, and perform problem isolation and resolution. Monitor, tune and set network standards. Finally, you will work with a multitude of other IT professionals to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes in a very fluid and changing environment.

  

 1. Analyzes, administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications networks.

 2. Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks.

 3. Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security polices and procedures.

 4. Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment.

 5. Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards.

 6. Participates in and may lead aspects of major network installations and upgrades.

 7. Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance.

 8. Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

 9. Provides advice and training to end-users.

 10. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.

 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.

 12. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

DoDI 8570.01m Certification required (IAT-2 compliant)

Minimum CCENT, CCNA-Security preferred

CCNA within 6-months

ITIL v3 Certification desired

Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

    Experience and knowledge that demonstrates competency with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation, configuration and trouble-shooting of multiple networking platforms and hardware devices to include layer 2/3 switches and routersExperience with various encryption devices such as VPN's, TACLANES, Firewalls, Proxy Servers, and other boundary devices CISCO LAN and WAN experience Experience with COMSEC fill devices Must be able to evaluate network performance and interact with users to solve problemsDetail-oriented and organized; able to understand network evaluation criteria and provide detailed assessmentsDemonstrated proficiency in EIGRP, STP, VTP, ACLs, IP Subnetting, and NATWorking knowledge of network administration and information systemsAbility to troubleshoot a variety of business software applications Able to distinguish between hardware problems, software problems or user errorAble to evaluate network performance and interact with users to solve simple and moderately complex problemsBasic business communication skillsDocuments and maintains technical drawings and status updates for all assets.Good communications skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow throughProvide training and Quality Assurance checks 
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

    Aruba WAN experience Knowledge of VoIP protocols H323/SCCP/RTP/QoS/SRST/MGC/SIPExperience working in a tactical environment, alongside military or DoD personnel, is highly desirableFamiliarity with mission systems and suites such as KuSS, TBMCS, GCCS, TACLANFamiliarity with SATCOM and radio platforms
2-5 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.
