Hoya Kids Learning Center (HKLC) is a child development and preschool facility caring for children of students, faculty and staff of Georgetown University. Dedicated to providing the highest quality child care in a safe, nurturing and loving environment, Hoya Kids fulfills a key component of Georgetown's educational mission to weave family needs into the fabric of the University community. 

We are seeking a qualified, caring, and professional Toddler Assistant Teacher to provide care and early childhood education in our Toddler classroom. These children are 1 ½ to 3 years old.   Responsibilities include all aspects of maintaining a high quality early childhood classroom - including but not limited to:

  • Provides a safe, healthy, nurturing, and stimulating environment.
  • Assists Teacher in planning, conducting and facilitating developmentally-appropriate programs and activities that reflect the emergent curriculum philosophy of the Center.
  • Develops and maintains mutually supportive relationships with individual family members that enable both families and teachers to meet each child's individual needs.
  • Ensures basic Center and classroom maintenance by washing dishes, preparing snack, changing diapers, cleaning up in the classrooms and on the playground, and other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience working with children in a high quality early childhood program
  • An enthusiasm for working with young children, an appreciation for each child's individuality, and an ability to stimulate a child's natural creativity and curiosity
  • An understanding of the needs of working parents and an ability to collaborate for the benefit of the children 
  • Strong relationship and communication skills
  • Computer experience, to include email, Internet research, word processing, and basic digital photography, and the integration of those (PowerPoint knowledge preferred) 

Preferred qualifications

  • Some college credits in Early Childhood Education or Associate's degree
  • 2+ years of experience working with young children in a high quality early childhood group setting

This is a full time, year-round position with the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm or 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
