Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment.

  

 1. Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs and tests various types of electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and related devices.

 2. Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in order to put equipment in operational condition and solve complex problems.

 3. Troubleshoots and corrects malfunctions using specialized test and diagnostic equipment.

 4. Modifies circuitry to improve performance.

 5. Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems.

 6. Provides operation/maintenance instruction to customer personnel.

 7. Prepares operating and malfunction reports and related documentation.

 8. Works with engineering staff to determine and solve equipment design problems.

 9. Performs quality assurance testing of assemblies and equipment fabricated by other technicians.

 10. Provides work leadership to less-experienced technicians, and may have supervisory responsibility.

 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

 12. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 8 years full time hands on technical experience within the last 15 years in the operation, maintenance, installation, test and/or repair of AEGIS computer/peripherals, networking and display systems used on U.S. Navy surpface ships.

 

Specialized Experience: 

Minimum of 4 years of full time engineering experience within the last 10 years in a supervisory capacity over techncians operating and maintaining AEGIS computer/peripherals, networking and display systems.  Supervisory capacity include:  Team Leader performing engineering support services such as:

 

1. Engineering change installations

2. Technical assists

3. Systems cetifications

4.  INSURVS

5. Material condiditon assessments

6. Systems Installations 

 

You must have worked on the folowing systems:

 

Unix and Linux Software administration

COTS network components (Switches and Routers)

Embedded System Processor Group (ESPG) Cabinets

OJ-719, OJ-720 and OJ-721 Consoles

AN/USG-2/2A/2B Cooperative Engagement Capability

AN/UYQ-86 Common Data Link Management System

Ships Gridlock System (SGS)

Video Data Distribution System (VDDS)

CKT-3 Surveillance Cameras

Mission Critical Enclosures (MCE) BL 7/8/9
