Responsible for designing, planning, implementing and administering databases, including security, access, and documentation.


 1. Participates in the design, maintenance, enhancement, coding, and administration of relational databases.

 2. Analyzes and determines information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.

 3. Coordinates new data development ensuring consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure.

 4. Reviews business requests for data and data usage, researches data sources for new and better data feeds.

 5. Participates in continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including performing proactive maintenance such as ensuring continued space availability, monitoring activity, and documenting problems, changes, and solutions.

 6. Assignments may include design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, installing, upgrading, and managing database applications.

 7. Provides guidance and work leadership to less experienced Analysts, and may have supervisory responsibilities.

 8. May serve as technical team or task leader.

 9. Stay current on vendors' best security practices in relation to organizational requirements.

 10. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

 11. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Bachelors Degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 10-15 years of related database analysis and/or administration experience.


The Primary responsibility for this Database Administrator is to work alongside Customer Management teams, Tier 1, and Tier 3 operational resources to provide overarching database administration support for the entire group. Work within the infrastructure division but oversee all database administration responsibilities over the application group and systems teams for large and complex infrastructure. Group level of 400+ and over 6 mission critical networks (private) and 25 applications. Database sizes are over 100 TB's per database in some instances. 
Working under minimal supervision, this candidate will follow incident management protocol while handing database related incidents; complete SRQ's, and projects. Perform traditionally as a DBA: managing tablespace, patching DB's, participates with installations and deployments of new applications and systems, performance tuning, etc.
This candidate must have the ability to lead and work with a diverse IT infrastructure; including storage/backups, platforms, middleware, software development. 
The successful candidate must have working experience with Oracle, MYSQL, and SQL Server databases for Windows and Linux platforms. Demonstrated experience in documenting database installation guide, tuning, backup, and restore procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of design and integration principles of complex, heterogeneous databases;
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in database administration
• Demonstrated knowledge of Agency’s and industry data standards and architectures
• Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
• Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate and expediently resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations regarding data integrity
• Ability to develop methods of ensuring that the data incompatibilities among systems are systematically eliminated
• Ability to project database resource requirements including personnel, software, equipment and facilities
• Ability to develop and recommend data management policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent data management operations
• Strong experience in Oracle, MYSQL, POSTGRES and SQL Server databases
• Strong experience in SQL, PL/SQL, Linux/Unix Scripting
• Strong experience in database performance tuning backup, and
• Proficiency in relational database design, data warehousing and database administration
• Rotating Pager Duty
Desired Skills: Work independently; and manage multiple task assignments
• Ability to facilitate discussion among people with differing backgrounds and opinions and lead to consensus
• High-level knowledge of Cloud Computing
