The mission of the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.   In the faithful pursuit of this mission, the archdiocese is seeking a Desktop Support Technician.

This junior level position will provide level 1 support for approximately 200 users at five locations within the Archdiocese of Washington. The level 1 support will service both desktop (laptop) hardware and software issues. Most of these users are located at the Central Pastoral Administration location.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist end users with advanced Microsoft Office 2010 and 2016 features (Outlook, Word Excel)
  • Interest in learning networking concepts and supporting infrastructure including wireless access points, firewalls, switches and be able to troubleshoot basic networking problems
  • Able to troubleshoot desktop and network printers
  • Able to travel to remote offices in the DC and Maryland area

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with the following (preferred) technologies:
  • Active directory
  • Hardware imaging
  • Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and inventory
  • E-mail (Exchange 2010), anti-spam administration (Barracuda)
  • Desktop and network printing,
  • Network drive access,
  • Mobile device management (iOS),
  • Software licensing,
  • Installation and support (Adobe CC, Office 2016)
  • Experience with Windows 7 and Windows 10, and Mac OSX operating systems
  • Experience using a ticketing system (such as Dell KACE) to prioritize, document and escalate issues, build a knowledge base with known solutions
  • Strong written communication skills including technical writing for documentation of processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot desktop computer/printing issues over the phone using remote support tools
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish would be a plus

Required Education and Experience

  • Have A++ Cert or A++ class or equivalent
  • Four year technical degree maybe substituted for above certificates

Work Environment

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the Catholic faith and organizational structure of the Church

Physical Demands

  • Be able lift and or carry desktop computers and/or desktop printers

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Regular full-time employee 40 hours per week
