Senior Linux System Administrator

Responsible to work in a team environment responsible for the overall architecture and design of many systems in an enterprise data center. The systems administrator will implement, enhance, and maintain systems used by solutions utilized by the different contracts.

Very strong Engineering and Administration on Redhat Enterprise Linux 7, 6, 5.

Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems, hardening and configuring OS with minimal packages and following high security standards.

Knowledge of GPFS filesystems and configurations of groups, volumes and filesystems and filesets.

Setting up repo and patching servers.

Manage, monitor, and maintain infrastructure systems in accordance with the contracts.

Perform system backups and recovery.

Analyzes network topologies and traffic and capacity requirements.

Understanding of cloud computing, AWS.

Audit system configuration to ensure data integrity and security.

Provide technical insight and support in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of all systems hardware and software to ensure the integrity of the system, adherence to industry and company standards, and consistent application of technology

Maintain proper documentation per company standards for all assigned systems and processes.

May provide guidance and work leadership to less-experienced personnel.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.

Strong Linux/RedHat background

Experience with gpfs and cluster filesystems, IBM.

Understanding of DNS, Ldap, Kickstart, cloning.

Familiar with VMware Vsphere.

Set up adminstrator and service accounts.

Maintains system documentation

Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

 

 

 

 

 

Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Qualifications 5-8 years of directly related experience in systems administration and analysis.

 

5 years of experience supporting and managing multiple UNIX based operating systems in an enterprise environment
Strong understanding of networks and how they impact the systems in an enterprise network
Strong understanding of SAN's and how they impact the systems in an enterprise network environment.
