AdvertisementProvides medical interpretation, advocacy and care coordination for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients and families. Identifies and triages these needs and issues to ensure language access and culturally sensitive and appropriate care for these patients and families in both in-and outpatient settings. EDUCATION: Associate's degree in a healthcare related field. Bachelor's degree preferred. experience: Minimum of four years experience in Medical interpreting. * Ability to identify and address obstacles to high-quality patient care and satisfaction. * Ability to work in multi-culturally diverse environment. * Knowledge of medical terminology. * Ability to diffuse stressful circumstances . * Well developed listening, interpretative and conciliation skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/LICENSURE : Certified American Sign Language (ASL) with the Registry of interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Interpreter is required or must be obtained within one year of hire. Other state and ASL certifications may be considered.
