Senior Research Technology Analyst
The Senior Research Technology Analyst works within the Academic Technology and Innovation (ATI) unit in the Division of Information Technology (IT) to develop and support research technology systems collaboratively with IT’s engineering and operations teams. S/he will serve as tier-3 support on an as-needed basis to ensure reliable operations. The analyst will consult with the University’s research and IT communities to facilitate the effective use of research technology and to identify and architect suitable IT systems and related services to meet researcher needs.
Core areas of technical expertise include but are not limited to High Performance, Data Intensive, and Visual Computing systems. As a member of a dynamic and highly skilled team, this individual must be motivated to explore state of the art research technology through self-directed learning and close collaboration with the University’s researchers. The Senior Research Technology Analyst will work under the general supervision of the Director of Research Technology.
-Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, information studies, or related field.
-Minimum of five years experience in hands-on engineering and administration of research computing infrastructure for High Performance, Data Intensive, and/or Visual Computing.
-Broad professional experience in full-stack systems engineering and development to include network, application, and systems administration and software development, with associated documentation.
-Minimum of two years providing end-user technical support to researchers in an academic environment.
-Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, sufficient to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a research environment.
-Ability to foster faculty enthusiasm for and engagement in the use of innovative technology for research, teaching, and learning.
-High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, creativity and commitment. Ability to work in a busy environment and on own initiative; self-motivated and flexible.
-Commitment to customer satisfaction: exceptional skills in collaboration, consultation, communication, customer support, data analysis, and time management.
-Good English-language written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to interact and build rapport with all levels of employees.
Preference will be given to those with:
-Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, information studies, or related field.
