AWS/Cloud Migration Engineer - TS/SCI required
GDIT is looking for a highly motivated, mid-level cloud migration engineer to join our experienced Rapid Application Development Team (RADT). RADT’s mission is to provide technical expertise and hands-on development to enterprise application owners in order to make the applications IA compliant in order to migrate them into the government cloud infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing a variety of applications (physical and virtual) to determine how best to migrate them into the various government clouds. You will develop and execute the migration into a test, and then, production environment. The ideal candidate will have systems administration experience with Linux and Windows operating systems; hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, VMware, Xen, etc.); the ability to analyze, design, and implement cloud migrations; experience integrating applications with cloud services (e.g., monitoring, backups, networking, etc.); good written and oral communications;Responsibilities:
- Verify and monitor cloud and on premises environments and respond to issues as they arise, adding new monitoring as neededWork with development teams to ensure processes progress all the way through maturity. Recommend alternate choices and trade-offs for various design decisions.Document and work with other members of the operations team to cross-train on AWS deployments as they occurInvestigate performance and process failures and work to improve themCreate/maintain monitoring solutions and instrument applications to provide insights into performance and to understand emerging issues.Actively participate in high level team activities such as suggesting architecture improvements, recommending process improvements and conducting tool evaluations.Identify and implement improvements to the platform and processes around release and maintenance.Conduct routine security and software updates.Stay apprised of new developments in both AWS and operations, help in determining how and when those would affect and/or improve our architecture
- 5+ years Enterprise level IT experienceExpertise with Microsoft Windows Server SolutionsAt least one year of hands on AWS experienceExperience working with EC2, EBS,S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM, CloudFormation, and other core AWS technologies.4+ years of experience as sys admin for Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems, including best practices for deploying applications to these stacksExperience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.)Familiarity with logging/monitoring using tools such as CloudWatch.
