CommonLit is a nonprofit edtech startup organization dedicated to closing the literacy gap for America's middle and high school students. We promote high-quality reading and writing instruction by developing open educational resources, flexible curriculuar materials, and integrated technology tools, freely available to all teachers and students at www.CommonLit.org. We are looking for college students with an interest in promoting children's education to join our content, outreach, and web development teams for the following internships:

  • Sales & Marketing Summer Internship (Outreach & Sales Team)
  • Design Summer Internship (Design Team)

The ideal candidate would be excited about working for a fast-paced nonprofit start-up, willing to take on multiple roles, and committed to closing the achievement gap. All of our summer internships have flexible start and end dates.

SALES & MARKETING SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Our sales and marketing summer internship is designed for students with exceptional entrepreneurial skills and a love of community outreach.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the outreach department in meeting marketing and sales milestones
  • Conduct market research and prepare internal reports, presentations, and competitive analyses
  • Assist in the design and management of a new revenue strategy
  • Manage individual marketing and sales projects
  • Conduct online demos and prepare marketing materials

Qualifications:

  • Working towards or recently received a Bachelor's degree; background or experience in business or marketing is appreciated, though not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Marketing, sales, or customer service experience appreciated
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support a growing department in a start-up environment

DESIGN SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Our design summer internship is designed for students with exceptional graphic design skills and a love of using design to leverage important social change.

Responsibilities:

  • Design graphics which reflect our company branding and are 508 compliant
  • Work iteratively and be receptive to design reviews
  • Assist on design projects in podcast and video as they arise

Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Graphic Design or other applicable degree
  • 1 year of design experience in Adobe
  • Must have own computer
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
