Provide network and telecommunications support for exercises; training events; experiments and demonstrations. Manage and maintain US JOINT STAFF J7 exercise network LAN/WAN and premise connections while deployed to exercise locations utilizing persistent and deployable communications nodes Configure; test; install and maintain Joint Staff J7 exercise networks and long-haul communications systems used for voice; data and video applications. Install, test and troubleshoot Ethernet; T-1/T3 lines; modems; Cisco/Juniper routers and switches; gateways; servers; computers; premise wiring and cable distribution systems; fiber optics and the interfaces to the LAN/WAN connections. Install, troubleshoot and maintain Video Teleconference Equipment and Voice over Internet protocol Phones (VoIP) instruments. Install, configure and maintain local and remote site exercise computer workstations and network printers. Assign IP addresses and domain name administration; DNS; DHCP; have a working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Outlook administration. Configure, install and operate encryption devices (KG-75; KG-175; KIV 7M; KG-245). Account for Communications Security Equipment (COMSEC) materials; daily cryptographic equipment keying and disposition records Utilize network monitoring and troubleshooting application and test equipment to resolve known deficiencies (Solar winds; What's Up Gold; Firebird/T-Bird; Wire Shark network analyzer). Work independently and with other support technicians/engineers performing analysis and resolution of reported issues Conduct site surveys at remote locations to determine equipment requirements for exercise support. Construct; read and interpret floor plans; wiring diagrams and schematics using Microsoft office tools. Conduct Site Surveys to determine existing cable, fiber, power, room configuration/dimensions, LAN Diagram, and document Point of Contacts (COMSEC custodian, network engineer, building managers, equipment shipping addresses, etc.) Pull and prepare equipment for shipping and receiving at local and remote locations. Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science; Engineering; or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical certifications or training; or work experience. Qualifications 2-5 years of directly related experience in network analysis and design. DoD 8570.01-M; Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program certifications IAT Level II certifications; such as Security Plus Certification and OS cert; prefer current Cisco Certification (CCENT; CCNA or JUNOS;) CONUS and OCONUS travel to support event setup; execution; and teardown.
