Garden Education Internship
City Blossoms is a non-profit dedicated to fostering healthy communities by developing kid-driven green spaces, and innovative resources. We provide garden-based programming with a focus on art, environmental education, healthy living skills, and community in schools, after school programs and Community Green Spaces across DC. If you are interested in joining us, we are currently accepting applications for our Summer cycle of interns (May 16th to mid-August). We are seeking out individuals with a passion for gardening, teaching and community-based education to fill our Education Internship.
Acquire skills for teaching and community based education, in both outdoor and classroom settings. An opportunity for self-directed individuals who have experience working with children and an interest in environmental education, art and promoting healthy living skills. Spanish-speaking skills are highly desired. Responsibilities include:
- assisting City Blossoms lead instructors with planning, teaching and assessment of ongoing workshops with children in grades Pre-K - 12
- supporting curriculum development through research and documentation
- planning educational workshops, professional development, and events alongside City Blossoms' staff
- promoting City Blossoms' curriculum through local and national distribution
-similar to a student teaching position, the Education Intern will be encouraged to observe, assist and ultimately lead workshops at one or more of City Blossoms' locations.
