Job Title: BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE MANAGER Closing Date/Time: Continuous Salary: $38.39 - $58.65 Hourly
$3,071.20 - $4,692.00 Biweekly
$79,851.20 - $121,992.00 Annually
Job Type: Full-Time Location: 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington *METRO-accessible*, Virginia       The Department of Environmental Services (DES) is seeking a Business Intelligence Manager to evaluate the operations of department-wide programs and to partner with management and key stakeholders to identify process improvements. This employee will define and implement data management strategies to deliver business solutions; design and produce complex reports, dashboards and various data visualization reporting solutions for strategic planning and decision making; and compile and transform complex data from multiple sources to develop a data warehouse.

Specific duties include:
 
  • Researching and analyzing current operations to map workflows that will indicate project interdependencies across programs throughout DES;
  • Working with stakeholders to analyze data quality issues that impact operations and assessing processes and policies that impact data quality, and making recommendations to improve data quality;
  • Performing advanced data analysis to determine trends and drivers in the operational data;
  • Developing predictive models to assist senior leadership in making strategic business decisions;
  • Developing key performance indicators and designing operations dashboards and reports for strategic planning and decision making;
  • Assisting with the implementation of proposals and evaluating operation effectiveness following the implementation;
  • Collaborating with the Department of Technology Services, DES-Technology Group and the Geographic Information Systems Bureau to determine new business applications that will best support proposed process improvement initiatives; and
  • Developing standards, best practices, data standards and analytic schemas for business intelligence and reporting, and recommending improvements to maximize process efficiency and report management.

 Selection Criteria: Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics or a related field, plus extensive progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, data analytics, data warehousing, project management and/or operations research and process improvement.

Substitution: Additional years of experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the education requirement.

Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
  • Relational databases such as Oracle and SQL server;
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
  • Designing operations dashboards and reports for use in strategic planning and decision making;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; and/or
  • Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.
