The City of Fairfax is seeking a highly motivated individual to assists in the operations of the Finance Department including capital assets, accounts payable, procurement, purchasing cards, journal entries and account reconciliations, annual audit, and preparation of the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). Assists with the City Retirement process including review of data preparation for the annual actuarial valuation, monthly compilation of retirement fund activity and year end statements, annual calculation of the retirees’ COLA and provides staff support for City Retirement Committee meetings. Oversees the annual 1099 process and Senior Tax and Rent Relief program. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting and three to five years of progressively responsible experience. Certified Public Accountant preferred. Must have knowledge of the principles and practices of finance administration and accounting. Attention to detail and demonstrated skill in Excel formulas and functions. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, City Council and City residents. Must be motivated and able to perform tasks with minimal supervision. Occasional evening and weekend work required. Hiring salary range $67,100 - $88,000 annually (future potential to $107,000) DOQ with excellent benefits. Position closes Monday, March 6, 2017.
