Financial Analyst for Finance and Business Operations - Georgetown University Medical Center

Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) is an internationally recognized academic medical center whose missions of research, teaching and patient care are carried out with a strong emphasis on community outreach and the Jesuit principle of cura personalis — care of the whole person.

The Financial Analyst provides administrative and finance support to the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) Finance Office and to the Administrative Director of Shared Resources.  S/he  manages the flow of financial transactions - for example, employee reimbursements, travel reimbursements, requisitions and purchase orders, contracts, Payroll Accounting Adjustments (PAAs), non-payroll cost transfer forms, Cost Center Maintenance  forms to set up cost centers, request forms for GMS access, budget amendments,  JVs, ProCard JVs, Spend Authorizations (pre-travel authorization form), and computer purchase request forms.  The Analyst ensures that GMS workflows and forms are complete and that supporting documents are in good order, and prepares these financial transactions for automated approvals in GMS.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures that forms and supporting documentation are in good order.
  • Prepares documents for approval signatures and sends the documents to the appropriate Medical Center or University office for processing. 
  • Maintains electronic and hard-copy files of all financial documents, including payroll distribution change reports. 
  • Prepares journal vouchers upon request and uploads non-RX journal vouchers into the workday financial system.
  • Supports expense activity log to note when expense, travel reimbursement requests, contracts, requisitions and purchase orders are approved and routed to the appropriate Medical Center or University office for processing.  
  • Works with PCI Coordinator to record credit card revenue on a quarterly basis and prepares other journal vouchers upon request. 
  • Maintains electronic and paper storage of financial documents noted above and maintains records of salary distribution changes in GMS along with supporting documentation. 
  • Assists the Administrative Director for Shared Resources with building fiscal year budgets, and chargeback reconciliations using for all Shared Resources.
  • Prepares the monthly reconciliation reports for the Directors review and prepares monthly PAAs and JVs when requested.  


  • Bachelor's degree in related field (business, accounting, communications) or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and organizational capabilities.
  • Preference for finance and accounting experience with technical skills in Microsoft Office - in particular, Microsoft Excel
