Computer Information Systems Lead Technician
George Mason University Information Technology Services (ITS) is searching for a Computer Information Systems (CIS) Lead Technician to join its Computing Services Team, a division of Classroom and Lab Technologies (CALT) that supports all computer systems in university classrooms and labs as well as the Virtual Computing Lab (VCL). Responsibilities: The CIS Lead Technician provides leadership in the support and maintenance of computing resources within university classrooms and labs, conference rooms, and the Virtual Computing Lab. This position reports to the Manager of Computing Services and coordinates the efforts of the entire computing services team. Duties include: * Ownership of all incident management for the Computing Services team, including ticket assignment, validation of resolution and reporting; * Oversee and direct annual image refresh--work with the Computing Services Manager to develop image requirements, lead development, conduct testing, schedule deployment, and ensure proper operations of all support systems; * Ensure all system patching is conducted across the entire environment and follows all established change management procedures; * Develop reports to ensure all processes are completed accurately and system environment is healthy; * Repackage software to further departmental imaging goals and to meet individual software requests; * Mentor Computing Services staff to help them continue to grow and adapt to our changing environment; * Work on all assigned projects and teams to ensure the needs of Classroom and Lab Technologies are met; * Primary technical point of contact with other ITS departments and the greater university community; and * Support the Computing Services Manager through all operational issues and provide back up when they are out of the office.
Required Qualifications: * Bachelorâ€™s degree in information technology, management information systems, computer science, or an equivalent field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows administration; * Demonstrated ability to oversee the installation and configuration of computer hardware; * Knowledge of software and image deployment systems, preferably Microsoft SCCM or Casper; * Ability to handle troubleshooting of systems in a fast paced multiple building environments; * Experience using ticketing system for incident reporting, escalation, and closing incident tickets; * Extensive customer service skills, including dealing with client issues; * Demonstrated command of written and oral communication, and prioritizing client needs and departmental resources; * Demonstrated effective communication/organizational/documentation skills; * Strong organization and time management skills--ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and independently; * Demonstrated work in the Information Technology field in a support, help desk or similar role directly supporting clients; * Demonstrated in depth experience in software imaging and distribution; and * Demonstrated, progressively responsible experience with technical computing support environments.
