Director of Financial Reporting
George Mason University Fiscal Services invites applications for an experienced accountant to lead its financial reporting function as Director of Financial Reporting. Responsibilities: * Takes the lead in preparing the universitys annual financial statements, reviewing supporting work papers, and serves as the primary contact for auditors; * Responsible for the preparation and/or oversight of internally and externally prepared financial ratios and metrics; and * Supervise staff performing the university-wide equipment tracking and inventory functions; accounting for capital assets and related debt; and federal financial aid draws, reporting and reconciliations.
Required Qualifications: * Masters degree or equivalent training and experience in accounting, experience in auditing or financial statement preparation, and supervisory experience; * Experience in a large enterprise resource planning (ERP) environment; * Current knowledge of GAAP and GASB requirements for financial reporting; * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; * The ability to analyze and solve problems; * Attention to detail; * The ability to organize and prioritize; and * The ability to work both independently and on teams.
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in the public sector of higher education; and * Certified Public Accountant certification.
