The George Mason University Office of Admissions is conducting a search for a self-motivated, results-oriented individual for an Admissions Counselor position. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students, evaluating undergraduate applications, representing the university at recruitment events, assisting with various communications and marketing projects, and conducting information sessions for prospective students and families. Additional responsibilities may include managing one or more various projects such as student and alumni volunteer programs, or recruitment communication planning. Counselors may also be assigned to coordinate recruitment and admissions for targeted groups such as athletics, performing arts groups, and other prospective students of talent.
Required Qualifications: * Superior written and oral communication skills; * Strong analytical skills; * Understanding of higher education marketing; * Willingness to travel extensively; * Availability for evening and weekend work; * Ability to multitask; * Detail-oriented; * Comfortable working with diverse populations; * Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information and situations; and * Bachelorâ€™s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: * Bilingual; and * Prior admissions or related experience.
