The Logistics and Communications Associate will support a unique and innovative financing mechanism for indigenous peoples and local communities for climate change mitigation related activities called the Dedicated Grant Mechanism for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (DGM).  The DGM was established by the Forest Investment Program under the Climate Investment Funds and is administered by the World Bank. It includes a Country Component in which a National Committee, composed of indigenous peoples and local community representatives, manage a grant-making fund for local projects, and a Global Component that focuses on Learning and Knowledge Exchange and Communications. Conservation International (CI) is the Global Executing Agency (GEA) for the Global Component of the DGM. The Global Executing Agency sits within the Social Policy and Practice Department of the Policy Center for Environment and Peace at CI.

This position will join the DGM Global Executing Agency team at CI to provide overall programmatic, logistics and communications support to the GEA program activities, including knowledge exchange and training workshops and events conducted by the GEA. This position will have a strong communications focus, with regular duties including maintaining and posting information on the DGM website and social media.

CI is seeking a skilled and motivated individual who is highly interested in working on a project that supports indigenous peoples and local community representatives and the GEA to support the success of the DGM and its Global Learning component.  The successful candidate will have excellent intercultural communications skills, be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs; have excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge and experience with and a willingness to learn more about website maintenance is a strong plus. 


  • Assist with coordination and administrative support to the GEA program requirements; this includes, but is not limited to supporting the logistics of international workshops and trainings
  • Assist with the update and maintenance of DGM GEA website and social media outlets

    This position is located in CI Headquarters in Arlington, VA Normal office environment


  • Attention to detail and the ability to operate independently to effectively establish priorities and work accurately under time constraints.
  • High school or secondary education and 2+ years of experience
  • Good judgement, the willingness to take initiative and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to effectively track and coordinate multiple projects.
  • Solid computer skills including Adobe, Photoshop and Microsoft office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience or Interest in learning how to use graphic design software such as Illustrator and InDesign
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility, time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Interest in/familiarity with indigenous peoples, climate change and international development.
  • Interest in working in a multicultural environment and coordinating with partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America


  • Written and spoken fluency in at least one of CI’s core Languages-Spanish, French or Portuguese-Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Interest in international conservation and development.
