Principal Engineer, Systems
ResponsibilitiesManage the design of server and application architectures and the administrative operation and maintenance of server hardware and software. Maintain system security by establishing secure practices and procedures, monitor usage statistics and logs, and monitor and remedie attempts to penetrate or corrupt server files. Develop baseline configurations and direct the modification of configuration settings. Supervise all Enterprise project initiatives; evaluate scope of work and provides multiple courses of action with a primary COA recommendation. Provide expertise within multiple IT systems such as: Windows Server 2008 R2/2012, VMware 5.x, SharePoint 2013, Exchange Server 2013, as well as excellent knowledge of related disciplines. Exhibit strong technical skills as they relate to numerous systems and storage technologies including but not limited to: Windows Server Hyper-V, Microsoft SQL Server 2012, Directory Services, DNS, SCCM, SCOM, SCSM, DFS, DHCP, IIS, VMware vSphere 5x, ESXi 5x, Cisco UCS/Nexus, EMC. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments and applications. Recommends future direction or projects to management. Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesHas experience with Virtualization, Windows, Storage, Linux, and McAfee Has full technical knowledge of all phases of systems engineeringExcellent communication skills; shows tact, effective listening skills and follow throughProvides technical guidance and leadership to engineers with less experienceCan create effective and clear user manuals; must be able to write and evaluate scripts that contribute to overall systems efficiencyDetail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of workAble to review the work of others and detect errors or needed modificationsAble to identify and resolve problems or inadequacies of systems engineering Security RequirementsMust have a Top Secret-SCI security clearance or be SCI eligible Physical DemandsLift over 35 LBS Work EnvironmentThe work is performed in an office setting. Education and Certification RequirementsBA/BS or equivalent + 8 yrs. of experience in Systems EngineeringMCTIP Certification or equivalent required ITIL v3 Certification preferredDoDI 8570.01m Certification required Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience. Qualifications 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.
