Research Assistant

McDermott+Consulting, a small Health industry-focused lobbying, policy and analytics consulting firm, seeks a Research Assistant.  McDermott+Consulting serves health industry clients with one-stop lobbying services, data analytics and modeling, and policy advice.

As a Research Assistant you will: 

  • analyze and evaluate changes to Medicare payment policies (e.g., Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, Outpatient Prospective Payment System);
  • analyze potential impact of policy changes and policy proposals advanced by our clients;
  • prepare summaries and impact analyses showing impact of policy changes on clients and their customers;
  • with senior staff, analyze publicly available data Medicare data (including payment, cost and utilization data) to identify and evaluate possible client strategies;
  • with senior staff, draft, edit and submit written materials, including comments, testimony and accompanying data analyses, to federal agencies regarding proposed regulation and policy changes;
  • monitor local and national coverage policies and report to clients on policy changes affecting their products and services.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline;
  • Strong analytic skills, both qualitative and quantitative;
  • Strong organizational skills; 
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point;
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software preferred, but not required (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, and/or STATA).

 

Analyst

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point;
