The Desktop Operations Team within the Office of Information Technology is seeking a self-motivated Desktop Engineer with proven experience in operating system and application packaging and deployment to end user devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. The Desktop Engineer will also be responsible in providing tier-3 end user support for issues escalated by the Desktop Support team. As a subject matter expert, the Desktop Engineer will assist other IT teams and perform root cause assessment and remediation of desktop issues on a regular basis.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Provide configuration, management, and troubleshooting of all components of the organization's desktop operating system and application delivery platforms.
Packaging, testing and deployment of operating system images and software through industry standard deployment automation technologies.
Contribute to development and ongoing improvement of industry best practices and standards for deploying enterprise desktop technologies.
Monitor and optimize system operation and resource utilization, and perform systems capacity analysis and planning.
Lead the implementation of end user mission critical IT solutions that include the design, integration and tier-3 support of hardware and software technologies in a geographically dispersed enterprise environment.
Routinely assess, plan for and perform version updates for operating systems and applications in the environment.
Prepare, test, and distribute critical, security, and required patches/updates of operating systems using enterprise deployment tools.
Working closely with other IT infrastructure teams, acts as a POC and desktop technologies subject matter expert to coordinate projects and initiatives.
Experience working in a platform diverse enterprise (MacOS, Windows, Linux, AWS WorkSpaces)
Develop and maintain thorough documentation of processes, procedures and KB articles
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a Desktop Engineering role.
Familiarity with ITIL processes (i.e. Change Management, Release Management, Configuration Management, Problem and Incident Management).
Experience with MacOS , JAMF Software Server (JSS), JAMF Distribution Server (JDS), and NetSUS.
Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, SCCM, MDT and Group policy.
Thorough understanding of WINS/DNS/DHCP.
Experience with configuring and managing MDM solutions.Experience with drive encryption software on MacOS and Windows.
- Experience with scripting to automate actions on MacOS.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Apple ACMT/ACSP, Casper Certified Technician (CCT)/Casper Certified Administrator (CCA) certifications are a plus.
Amazon AWS, and/or VMware DTM Certifications are a plus.
Microsoft SCCM knowledge and Experience a plus.
Experience in building, provisioning and maintenance of AWS Workspaces.
