Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with deep skills and broad experience configuring, implementing, and securing Linux, Active Directory, Windows Server, Hypervisors including Vmware and Hyper-v,  Exchange, and Skype for Business. You will work on a team of systems engineers, analysts, and technical specialists responsible for the secure and reliable performance of enterprise IT systems.

 

Job Responsibilities:

·     Investigate possible strategies and products to virtualize Westat's current desktop infrastructure.  Make recommendations and present options to senior corporate managers. ·     Build, test, deploy, manage, and monitor redundant Virtual Desktop Infrastructure servers to include packaging and timely deployment of business-critical software and security updates.  Provide support for both local and internet-based employees. ·     Design, build, test, implement, and manage enterprise-grade IP telephony & unified communications (UC) system, to include migration from legacy premise-based PBX and integration with existing Skype for Business and MS Exchange systems. ·     Work closely with, and mentor, colleagues responsible for Active Directory, Group Policy, corporate email services, remote access, Skype for Business, SharePoint, and telephony systems.  ·     Support large-scale laptop deployment with understanding of mass imaging techniques.
Job Requirements: ·     At least 12 years of enterprise-level Windows server engineering and administration experience; ·     Hands-on experience with all of the following: SCCM, Exchange, Lync/Skype, SharePoint, Hyper-V, Vmware, load balancers, high availability, and clustering of Windows Server systems.  Familiarity with Nortel 91C phone systems, digital phones, IP phones, configuration, and integration of Polycom phones. ·     Solid understanding of networking (e.g., Ethernet, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, firewall's routers, switches). ·     Experience with Symantec Ghost. ·     Two years of college course work with an emphasis on IT including basic and intermediate coursework in programming, computer systems architecture and technical writing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, suitable for interacting with technical and non-technical colleagues, including senior project directors and corporate management, in person and via email and phone and video conferencing.  Experience and skills should include working independently and with technical teams, managing multiple tasks and priorities, strong technical skills, customer service orientation, and familiarity with operating systems and security standards.  The position offers growth potential and opportunities for increased responsibilities. Westat experience is a plus.
