Key Responsibilities

  • The Senior RedHat Administrator is responsible for the day to day administration, engineering, architecture, and support services of RedHat server environments. 
  • Senior RedHat Administrators analyze, design, develop and test systems to ensure the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total engineering effort.
  • Additional responsibilities include formulating operational concepts; performing mission, functional, cost-benefit and risk analysis; selecting systems architecture; and preparing specifications for operating systems to ensure designs meet applicable security specifications.
  • These individuals may also be asked to document security on both new and fielded information systems or provide accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features are considered and functioning properly.
Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications 8-10 years of related systems engineering experience.

 Additional Responsibilities


The Senior RedHat system administrator shall have experience administering the following products and/or systems:

·       RedHat Linux operating systems at the level to build, maintain, and troubleshoot servers

·       RedHat server virtualization environment

·       Linux based Trusted Guard solution to move data between classification levels

·       Server clustering and failover

·       EMC Storage Area Network (SAN) infrastructure

·       Disc array storage solutions

·       Unix shell scripting

·       DISA STIG security benchmarks


Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems' technology.

The Senior RedHat Administrator position requires a Bachelor's degree in a specialized area, field or the equivalent and at least eight to ten years of related work experience. Applicants with a Master's degree and a minimum of six to eight years of related experience are also eligible.

Department of Defense SECRET security clearance is required at time of hire. Candidates must be able to obtain DEA Suitability. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.


The Senior RedHat Administrator should be able to:

·       Perform complex operations within Vi text editor

·       Administer RedHat clustering and virtualization

·       Strong working knowledge of RHEL 6.x/7.x

·       Knowledge of NetApp and NFS technologies
