Responsible for the maintenance, administration and support of Next Generation 911 systems and communications networks (voice, unified communications, and emergency services) at customer sites in Fairfax County, VA and suburban Maryland.

 

Must have an understanding of telecommunications, computer and network security, and expertise in system administration practices and procedures. Perform maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance of the supported sites and networks. Categorizes, isolates, and resolves network, server, and workstation problems. Performs fault isolation and correction, coordinating with customer personnel, GDIT network operations center, engineering personnel, and OEM partners. Uses work instructions and procedures to triage and escalate network, hardware, and application issues. Coordinate and facilitate vendor support of Next Generation 911 systems and subcomponent applications and equipment.

 

Provides technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration and/or enhancement of company technical products, programs and systems.

2. Provides expertise for resolving technical problems.

3. Modifies products, programs and systems to customer requirements.

4. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.

5. Provides end-user training.

6. Performs various tests and documents results.

7. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced engineers and technicians.

8. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

9. Participates in special projects as required.

Education Bachelors Degree in Engineering.

Qualifications 5-8 years of related engineering experience.
