Instructor/Assistant Professor, Sport Management (Nontenure-Track)

The George Mason University Division of Sport, Recreation and Tourism--within College of Education and Human Development (CEHD)--is seeking to fill a full-time, term (non-tenure-track) instructional faculty position Sport Management program (rht.gmu.edu/sport-management) beginning in August 2017. Due to its location in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, the countrys fifth largest sport market, the program offers ample opportunities for faculty and students to engage with the sport industry.

Responsibilities: The program is seeking a faculty member who is committed to teaching in the undergraduate program, including general Sport Management courses and relevant specialized courses (e.g., sport marketing, economics, governance, analytics, technology, venues, or global perspectives). Teaching in the graduate Sport Management program is also possible. The overall teaching load is four courses per semester. Additional responsibilities include: * Mentoring undergraduate students; * Serving on school, college and university committees; * Participating in the development and delivery of online courses; and * Contributing to special initiatives designed to further the sport management program and its external partnerships.

Required Qualifications: * Masters degree in sport management or a closely related field (terminal degree is required for the rank of Assistant Professor); and * Strong commitment to inclusivity and collaboration with other faculty and program partners.

Preferred Qualifications: * Earned doctorate in sport management or a closely related field; * Teaching experience in higher education settings; * Sport industry experience; and * Active interest in sport-related research.
