Courtney's House is looking for several interns for summer in the following roles:

Direct Services Volunteer Coordination Communications Operations/Nonprofit Management Executive Assistance

Hours: 20-40/week

For some intern positions, we will consider extending the length of the internship for up to one year. If interested, please mention this in your cover letter.

Qualifications for all interns:

  • Undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university.
  • Has strong writing skills, takes initiative, is highly organized and responsible.
  • Has a solid understanding of self-care and healthy boundaries.
  • Has a solid understanding of sex trafficking in the United States.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Docs.
  • Has own laptop.
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced work environment and is flexible when priorities change.
  • Can carry at least 25 lbs.
  • Has a passion and drive to help survivors of sex trafficking.
  • Spanish language proficiency a plus.
  • LGBTQQ community members are encouraged to apply.

(HIGH PRIORITY) Executive Assistant Intern: This intern will work closely with Founder/Executive Director Tina Frundt. Tasks will include managing the ED's calendar, scheduling interviews, events, and speaking engagements for all staff members, assisting with events, communicating with third party organizations, partners, and media, and other tasks as needed. This position will require administrative work and will also offer opportunities to work with the ED and accompany her to events.

Direct Services Intern - Must be 21 or Older: Will assist with client-related tasks, including case management, supervision of survivors, facilitation of activities, phone and hotline calls, etc. This position may need to be on call for emergencies. Previous experience with youth, trauma survivors, and/or LGBTQQ youth needed. Must be in a program for Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field. Masters students preferred, last year of bachelor's acceptable also.

Volunteer Coordination Intern - Will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of our over 100 volunteers, ranging from one-day service projects to weekly mentoring. This intern will be asked to interview potential new volunteers, coordinate training events for new volunteers, maintain the volunteer database, write/update training materials, and work with staff and team leaders to set up events and other efforts. This intern is the main contact for the volunteers, and is expected to respond to volunteer questions quickly, politely, and accurately. Previous experience leading and/or coordinating volunteers is a plus. (This position may be combined with Communications Intern, depending on candidates and availability.)

Communications Intern - This position provides hands on experience working with communications at Courtney's House. The intern will gain experience developing marketing strategies and outreach campaigns, as well as interacting with the media. Some responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, updating social media, drafting and sending out press releases, corresponding with members of the media, corresponding with volunteers, donors, and survivors, assisting with the quarterly newsletter, maintaining the website, working on fundraising promotions, and assisting with administrative tasks. (This position may be combined with Volunteer Coordination Intern, depending on candidates and availability.)

Operations/Nonprofit Management Intern - Must be 21 or Older: This intern will work closely with the Director of Operations on all areas of nonprofit management, including finance/accounting/budgeting, fundraising, human resources, communications/IT, etc. Intern may be asked to attend high-level meetings, manage other interns, and otherwise assist the Director of Operations. This internship is a great opportunity for students interested in opening or running nonprofits in the future. This is a new intern position, so creativity and flexibility are welcome. Relevant experience preferred.
