Power Plant Mechanic

The George Mason University Facilities Management Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Power Plant Mechanic on the Fairfax campus. Responsibilities: This position performs work of considerable difficulty with responsibility for independently inspecting, maintaining, repairing and/or rebuilding a variety of power plant mechanical and related steam and heating equipment.

Required Qualifications: * Considerable knowledge of all aspects of repairs and maintenance of heating equipment, gas-fired boilers, pumps, and other auxiliary power plant mechanical equipment; * Must have working skills in the use of diverse hand and power tools; and mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment; and * Must be able to show demonstrated ability to maintain and repair power plant and related equipment, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing a variety of mechanical problems.

Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license.
