George Mason University Division of University Life seeks an Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Responsibilities: This position will provide leadership to an IACS-accredited center of a dedicated multidisciplinary staff; serve as the chief mental health officer to university and community stakeholders invested in quality student care and the optimal student experience; and engage with a university and campus community that embraces creativity, innovation, diversity and collaboration. Duties include: * Ensure the overall quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of all service areas of CAPS, including Psychological, Psychiatric, Training (APA-accredited doctoral internship and pre-doctoral externship), Multicultural Services and Community Education, and Learning/Academic Coaching Services; * Facilitate strategic planning to ensure quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of services and operations; and consider sound assessment strategies, trends, best and emerging practices in planning and decision making; * Serve as chief mental health officer for the university regarding matters related to the mental health/well-being of students and campus safety; * Provide oversight of staff recruitment, hiring and supervision; multidisciplinary staff includes psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, psychiatrist, learning specialists, doctoral interns, externs, graduate assistants, peer academic coaches, and administrative support staff; * Provide leadership in the delivery of emergency services and crisis intervention coverage within CAPS and the university at large; * Enhance relationships and partnerships with a broad base of campus and community stakeholders to benefit students and university departments; * Provide leadership in innovation in service delivery systems to advance new initiatives critical to the success of Mason students and in response to institutional growth and priorities, expansion of programs at distributed campuses, and changing needs of students and the community; * Participate in divisional and university-wide committees, initiatives, task forces, etc.; and * Manage fiscal resources, space and equipment.

Required Qualifications: * Earned doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology; * Licensed as a psychologist in Virginia or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Virginia within one year of appointment; * Progressive professional and administrative experience in a clinical setting; * Experience supervising professional counseling staff; and * Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and experience effectively working with diverse populations in a higher education setting.

Preferred Qualifications: * A collaborative, empowering and transparent leadership style; * Understanding of contemporary professional practices in the delivery of counseling and psychological services; * Knowledge of/management of crisis response, health and safety concerns; * Familiarity with accredited training programs (APA); * Effective communication and interpersonal skills; * Experience applying and using technology to enhance delivery of programs and services; and * Experience with multidisciplinary teams, practices and approaches.
