Westat's research, technical, and administrative staff of more than 2,000 is located at our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, near Washington, DC.

Job Summary


Westat is seeking an Administrative Assistant to provide support to the Vice President of Accounting and Contracts. The department is fast-paced and its activities include accounts payable, payroll, retirement benefits, general accounting, contract administration, billing, finance and purchasing.

Job Responsibilities


The ideal candidate will be expected to have the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations, possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and have excellent attention to detail. The candidate will perform a variety of complex administrative duties and will be expected to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and technical skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Skype Business), Adobe Acrobat and WebEx.

Job Requirements


· A high school diploma
· 10 years of experience

Preferred qualifications: At least 2 years of post-secondary education (e.g. an associate's degree or at least 2 years towards a bachelor's degree). Experience working with staff at all levels (entry level to executive) and experience supporting a financial and/or legal department is preferred.
