GENERAL SUMMARY The Lead Histotechnologist provides technical information, coordination, and direction to technicians and technologists in a specific laboratory section engaged in performing specialized process that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Also monitors quality control, quality assurance and safety programs. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science or ASCP registry as HT or HTL is required. PRIOR EXPERIENCE : Minimum of two years with progressively more responsible job related experience. ON-THE-JOB EXPERIENCE: Approximately six to twelve months to gain familiarity with the Hospital environment, department routines and procedures, and the full range of job duties. CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION/LICENSURE : ASCP certification as HT or HTL is required.
