Information Security Engineer – Senior/LeadTS/SCI ClearanceFt. Huachuca, AZ Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. The Senior Information Security Engineer supports DCGS-A Integration and performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of DCGS-A information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. General responsibilities include: 1. Performs Computer Security Incident Response activities for a large organization, coordinates with other government agencies to record and report incidents. 2. Monitor and analyze Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) to identify security issues for remediation. 3. Recognizes potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information. 4. Evaluate firewall change requests and assess organizational risk. 5. Communicates alerts to agencies regarding intrusions and compromises to their network infrastructure, applications and operating systems. 6. Assists with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls. 7. Ensures the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications by technical enforcement of organizational security policies, through monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices. 8. Performs periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, file system and external Web integrity scans to determine compliance. 9. Prepares incident reports of analysis methodology and results. 10. Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technical staff members. 11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. 12. Participates in special projects as required. Specifically the Senior Information Security Engineer will: 1. Provide support and advice on Information Assurance issues/concerns in all phases of development throughout the software life cycle. 2. Develop and prepare technical reports and related documentation for Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages. 3. Coordinate with software developers to implement Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) changes that apply to the DCGS-A family of system baselines. 4. Support security risk analysis, mitigation, evaluation, and reporting in support of IA C&A processes. 5. Research and analyze DoD and Department of the Army (DA) policies to mitigate implementation problems that may impact the ACAS implementation. 6. Develop draft ACAS sustainment support documentation for updating and utilization of current and future DCGS-A architectures, change control, configuration management, and operations procedures. 7. Design and prepare technical reports and related documentation, and makes charts and graphs to record results. Education Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience. Qualifications 5-8 years of related experience in data security administration. Minimum Qualifications: 1. At a minimum must be DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certified...ie...Security+ CE or SSCP and technical computer environment certification or training to start. Must be able to obtain IAT Level 3 (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CASP, or CISSP) within 6 months. 2. Must have active TS/SCI clearance to start. 3. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other Engineering or Technical Discipline and ten years of professional work experience (or twelve years’ of professional experience, appropriate computing environment certification, and IA Workforce System Architecture and Engineer (IASAE) Specialty qualified experience in place of a degree) is required. 4. Must be knowledgeable with the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and all assessment and authorization policies and directives (i.e., DoDI 8510.01) for RMF. 5. Two to three years of experience installing, configuring, administering and operating Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) in the DoD environment. 6. Demonstrated experience with virtualization in a DoD environment. 7. Solid understanding of Microsoft Linux or Solaris operating systems and networking. 8. Knowledge and experience in working with Firewalls and Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS). 9. Ability to work independently and in a mentorship position. Preferred Qualifications: 1. IAT-III with CISA, GCIH, GCED, CASP or CISSP. 2. Demonstrated skills and expertise in the following technologies: SQL/XSQL Server Administrator (SA), Microsoft O/S and security, Information Assurance (IA), IP Data Networking and Vulnerability Assessment product engineering and design, IP network vulnerability scanner Tier 3 support, REM 3.X / Retina 5.X and greater, ACAS Security Center 4.X / Nessus 5.X or greater and HP Tenable Nessus products. 3. Military experience desired. Completion of U.S military NCO or Senior NCO Academy Course or Officer Basic or Advanced Course is preferred. 4. Exceptional oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and results-focused mindset are highly desirable.
