RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

Sunrise Senior Living Design Department is seeking an Interior Design intern to work with our Design Team in McLean, VA.

Requirements for applicants
  • College Junior or Senior (completed minimum of 2 years of their interior design degree)
  • Interview and portfolio will be required (phone interview with digital portfolio if out of state)
  • Minimum of a course in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat
Responsibilities of position
  • Learn and understand the Sunrise brand standards and signature design elements and how to incorporate them into the design of projects
  • Assist Designers with scaling of furniture in floor plans and produce furniture layouts within Sunrise signature standards
  • Assist Designers in product selection to create and furnish the space including finishes, furniture, accessories, drapery, lighting, art, and other interior elements
  • Assist in the creation of detailed furniture specifications and fabric/finish selections
  • Assist in the creation of detailed drawing documents for inclusion in design packages for construction and installation of materials and finishes
  • Compile details and specifications, using Excel and Acrobat to create installation guides and design presentations using standard templates
  • Exposure to designing within a budget for existing building needing supplemental design to their already existing environment
  • Data entry into our software systems for processing purchase orders, and data entry into Microsoft programs for tracking and updating / sharing information for other team members
  • Identify fabric reselections when requested
  • Ability to meet established deadlines
  • Work in the design department resources / vendor library to receive exposure to appropriate products in the healthcare field and some organization and ordering of samples
  • Attendance and participation in vendor meetings, department and team meetings, gleaning from them new information in order to better the product or production of the Design Department
  • Ability to participate in limited local travel and assist in installation of products
  • Exposure to health and safety in the environment, building codes, and other technical aspects associated with the healthcare industry
  • Some clerical and administrative duties
