The George Mason University Mason Enterprise Center (MEC) is recruiting to fill the position of Regional Manager, MEC-Fairfax. Based in the City of Fairfax, MEC-Fairfax--a partnership initiative between George Mason University and the City of Fairfax Economic Development Authority (EDA)--is a 30,000 square foot business incubator with 60 resident and 60 virtual companies. The MEC is a university-based economic development initiative that focuses the energy, skills and intellectual capital of George Mason University on enterprise creation and expansion. Specializing in the areas of small business services, government contracting, entrepreneurship, incubation, and technology ventures, the MEC offers a unique combination of programs, services and resources. Through a broad array of activities that include business counseling, seminars, sponsored research programs, business incubation, and connections to additional services and resources, the MEC strengthens the decision-making and operations of businesses, governments, and other institutions throughout the Greater Washington region.
Responsibilities: The Regional Manager reports to the Managing Director of the Mason Enterprise Center. The incumbent oversees all operations, including: * Resident and virtual client company recruitment and support; * Developing and delivering client networking and educational programming; * Coordinating business counseling and assistance for client companies; * Creating a community of entrepreneurship; * Outreach and marketing; * Budgeting and financial oversight; * Facilities management; * Supporting university spin-outs and start-ups; and * Coordinating with the City of Fairfax and EDA, MEC management and George Mason University programs.
Required Qualifications: * Four-year bachelors degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office suite; * Strong social/communication and collaboration skills; * High level of sales experience (full sales cycle from lead generation to deal closure); * Superior customer service skills; * Recent experience developing and delivering networking and educational programming for small businesses; * Relevant experience with incubator tenant relations and facilities management; * Recent experience working with start-ups, small businesses, and university faculty/student spin-outs and start-ups; * Supervisory experience; and * Experience with budgeting, accounting and financial management, and programmatic and financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of QuickBooks.
