EMT / MA Occupational Medicine Specialist-Obici-Flexi-Dayshift
Sentara Obici Hospital, located in Suffolk, VA is hiring for an Occupational Medicine Specialist to work FLEXI (about 8 hours per week) in our Occupational Medicine Office. This position will also cover as needed in our Sentara Belle Harbour Occupational Medicine Office, also located in Suffolk. Job tasks will include working in the clinic either at Obici or Belle Harbour doing drug screens, hearing tests, pulmonary function tests, vision testing and vitals. We will provide the training for all of these. Position may be asked to go to a corporate site and do vitals for a health fair or go to an on-site medical clinic to cover a co-worker or to help during a critical need (hearing test compliance, large hiring campaign, etc).

- Certification in applicable clinical profession (e.g. Certified Medical Assistant, Certified EMT, Certified Paramedic, etc.)
- One year experience in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Confidence in your skills to be able to function without other clinical support on-site - however support is always just a phone call away!
- Able to travel to the various sites and work flexible hours
- Shifts can range from 4 hours to 12 hours however will generally be 8 hour shifts M-F from 8am to 4:30pm.
- Weekend dayshift may be needed for position
Performs occupational medicine testing (audiometry, spirometry, BAT, urine drug screen, and hair collection). Performs clinical assistant duties (EKG, immunizations, phlebotomy, waived laboratory testing) as assigned by the Urgent Care administrative and clinical leadership. Performs other duties as assigned by the Urgent Care administrative and clinical leadership.
High School Grad or Equivalent
Required: Healthcare - 1 year Preferred: None, unless noted in the “Other” section below

Knowledge of medical terminology, organizational skills, ability to work as part of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with a culturally diverse population: i.e. substance abuse testers, physicians, employer clients, and Worker Compensation case managers. Demonstrates high level of initiative. Able to work independently.
