General Dynamics IT has an opening for a Senior Public Relations Specialist in New Orleans, LA.

Successful candidate must be able to pass a government background investigation. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US and a resident of the US for the previous 3 years with no longer than a 90 day absence.

Seeking a motivated and energetic Public Relations Professional to join our superb team of software developers. We want a dedicated individual who wants to learn and expand their program support expertise.

 

Principal Duties / Responsibilities: 
 
Provides communications program management support to multiple software development and maintenance projects:

1.       Manage all communications outreach for the organization

2.       Propose solutions to support the execution of communication strategies

3.       Create written notifications, presentations and briefs on new software development and maintenance projects for various audiences

4.       Prepares written technical summaries on IT project status and milestone completion

5.       Assist project leads with schedules, meeting coordination, presentations and facilitating meetings

6.       Coordinates user acceptance testing of new software

7.       Coordinates internal and industry user training of new software

8.       Maintains project distribution lists for communication endeavors

9.       Provides general Program Management support as assigned

10.     Provides updates to the Program Manager and Senior Leadership

 

Required Skills:


• Minimum three years of experience in the areas of public relations, communications, business management, and/or marketing

• Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Sharepoint

• Strong administrative and organizational skills with fastidious attention to detail

• Proven ability to support multiple projects and tasks at once, and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced work environment to meet deadlines

• Ability to work professionally, effectively, and efficiently in a team environment with various stakeholders


Desired Skills:


• Experience working in the Information Technology and/or Petroleum Industry   

• Experience with Microsoft Project, Visual Studio Team Foundation Server (TFS), Confluence

•  Experience working in and supporting a technical environment

•  Ability to smoothly manage work assignments and excel in a stressful environment

•  Must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to work well without close supervision

•  Positive attitude and dedication

Education Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

Qualifications Requires five to eight years’ Communications or public relations support experience. Also requires demonstrated organizational and communications skills, as well as a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.

 Position requires a government background investigation.

Working Conditions: The work is typically performed in an office environment, which requires normal safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.
