Position Summary

The Latino Victory Project is looking for a Latino Talent Initiative intern to help manage our newest initiative, a program that identifies, recruits and advises Latinos on high level staffing positions for incoming elected officials, as well as foundations and social justice organizations. This intern will have a supporting role in all aspects of developing the program and will be responsible for maintaining the database, vetting candidates for a wide variety of positions, and at times reporting to key stakeholders and allies in the program.

Essential Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Maintain an organized and efficient database of job candidates and job openings
  • Aid in strategy for advertising available positions in all sectors and agencies
  • Under staff supervision, screen interested applicants, which may include reference calls with recommenders and/or former supervisors
  • Help in creation of monthly reports for internal and external tracking of LTI's impact
  • Support the program advisory committee, keeping them informed and incorporating recommendations
  • Coordinate with ally organizations and stakeholder groups to solicit talent recommendations
  • Help craft talking points and materials for the LTI program
  • Coordinate key events that address the lack of Latinos in the Federal Government, Congress and at the state and local level

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage and respond to multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment
  • Experience working with databases and organizing information
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn and other tools to identify professionals and their skill sets
  • Attention to detail while tracking progress of overall program goals
  • Spanish language is a plus
