RN UNIT COORDINATOR
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator to work with our Vascular Step-down Unit. This position will work full-time day shift.
As the region's first Magnet hospital, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a 525-bed tertiary care facility, is home to the area's only Level I Trauma Center, burn trauma unit and nationally ranked heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital. In addition to a first-rate heart program, the hospital is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several dedicated facilities and specialized services including a nationally ranked ENT program supported by the skilled physicians at EVMS Medical Group.
Vascular Step-down Unit is a 27 bed unit. We take care of patients with End Stage Renal Disease, Vascular disorders such as Peripheral Vascular Disease, Peripheral Artery Disease, and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. We also specialize in Kidney and Pancreas Transplant patients. Lastly, our ENT population typically is patients with Head and Neck Cancer. So here you will learn a lot. Our RN to patient ratio can be 1:3, 1:4, and 1:5 depending on the acuity of the patients. This unit will participate in a Nurse Residency Program for new graduate RN's. Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
RN-Bachelor's Level Degree OR
RN-Doctorate Level Degree OR
RN-Master's Level Degree
Required: Nursing - 18 months

Preferred: Basic Life Support

BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.
