Job Description:
Sentara Healthcare is currently seeking a full time Manager (RN) for Clinical Education. Candidate will manage the development, implementation, evaluation and effectiveness of system clinical education projects/programs. They will pursue opportunities through research, evidence-based practice, and complete analysis of projects that support clinical and patient safety initiatives. They will serve as a champion and change agent for education and process improvements that support strategic initiatives focused on enhancing the patient experience by improving quality, patient safety and satisfaction. They will lead and mentor by role modeling professional practice consistent with organizational goals, customer service, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care.

Plans, organizes, directs and evaluates functions of staff development programs for all clinical positions. Leads in the development, education and end user training environments. Utilizes knowledge of nursing work flow in developing curriculum and training programs relevant to system initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes. In support of system-wide nursing projects, configure and deliver education programs for new or ongoing patient care initiatives, processes, equipment, etc. Utilize strong facilitation and collaboration skills to ensure that education provided effectively impacts nursing to maximize evidence-based best practices and outcomes. Serves as mentor by role modeling a professional practice consistent with organizational goals, customer service, and clinical effectiveness, standards of care, and safety /regulatory support. Serves as an educational consultant to other departments, manages fiscal, personnel and supply resources of departments.

Education Level
RN-Bachelor's Level Degree. Master's degree preferred.

3 - 5 years project management experience required in the following areas: ability to plan, design, implement, evaluate, and monitor program and/or projects that vary in nature and complexity; develops goals and identifies initiatives for the Clinical Education Department; markets/promotes programs and projects through the identification of benefits to staff and the organization; Innovation and critical thinking skills; identifies and implements new processes for reaching online influencers, engage with customers, and drive new business; conceives and develops innovative approaches that align and integrate with internal and external priorities; Leads work teams across business units in order to meet project objectives and deadlines; manages process(es) to achieve goals; demonstrates self-discipline with strong project management skills and great attention to detail to handle a number of projects simultaneously.

Previous successful experience with large-scale change efforts in the healthcare setting required. Proven ability to influence and drive change. Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and drive constant improvement in process and ability to achieve organizational goals. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize to meet tight timelines. Demonstrated ability to solicit support and enthusiasm from corporate executives, managers, employees, and supporting departments. Position requires excellent facilitation and relationship skills. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy. Requires critical thinking, conceptual thinking and decision making skills. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Requires analytical abilities necessary to resolve problems related to project concept, design and implementation issues.
