Job Description:
Sentara Heart Hospital is seeking an experienced Cardiac Perfusionist to work full-time with our Cardiac OR team. This position is a ROTATING shift. The start date for this position will be in May or June of 2017.

Sentara Heart Hospital, on the Sentara Norfolk General campus, offers the Hampton Roads region's only heart transplant program, including total artificial hearts and ventricular assist devices as bridges to transplant and permanent therapy. In 2016, Sentara Heart has introduced two newly-approved cardiac technologies; the world's smallest pacemaker and the world's first dissolvable heart stent. The region's first and only dedicated heart hospital is unlike any facility within hundreds of miles. Sentara Heart Hospital has all-private rooms, including 112 inpatient beds, 62 pre/post procedural rooms for patients undergoing interventional cardiac procedures and several outpatient cardiac clinics.

Unit Information:
Our team consists of eight Perfusionist's and we handle over 1000 mainly all adult cases a year. Each Perfusionist is eligible to receive a lucrative case rate on top of their base rate salary. Our Perfusionist work with cutting edge technology and programs such as total artificial hearts, heart/lung transplants, CABGS, valve repair/replacements, ECMO, TAVR, and ventricular assist devices just to name a few. Under medical supervision, the Cardiac Perfusionist prepares appropriate perfusion equipment for surgery, monitors equipment during surgery, performs pre and post-operative maintenance on perfusion equipment, and computes parameters for surgery to facilitate quality patient care for all open heart surgical procedures.
