Concepts & Architecture Systems Engineer (ATMD)
Individual will perform future architecture analysis of the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). This individual will work closely with MDA technical offices and supporting organizations (SETA, associate contractors, FFRDCs, and others) to define the technologies and architectures needed to counter evolving threats. The individual will perform system level analysis to establish key performance parameters and functional needs for candidate architectures and will document analysis results in trade studies, reports, and briefings to be presented to senior members of the National Team and senior MDA decision makers. Individual will work in small teams comprised of 4-8 multi-discipline engineers. Education Masters Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. Degree and experience in an engineering classification, mathematics or physics: Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD. Qualifications 8-10 years of related engineering experience. Required Qualifications: Individual must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of one or more of BMDS or similar capabilities: EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, endo and/or exo atmospheric kill vehicles, hypersonic technologies, ballistic and non-ballistic missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, raid threats, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.). Individual must demonstrate knowledge of the kill chain to defeat threats in all phases of employment (pre-launch, boost, mid-course, and terminal). Individual must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated experience in presenting technical information in high-level reviews such as Customer witnessed design reviews, competitive proposal oral presentations, etc. Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment. Desired Qualifications: Experience with air to air, ground to air, endo-atmospheric, or exo-atmospheric weapons. Experience in the air combat domain. Experience in performing system-of-system level requirements development in a model based system engineering (MBSE). Experience in routine and direct interacting with MDA Customers (2 or 3 “Letter” organizations or “Elements”). Past involvement in corporate or government IR&D initiatives. Demonstrated ability to think-out-of-the-box.
