Surface Navy Ship Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems Technician
Fabricates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies electronic developmental and production equipment, parts, components, and systems according to engineering instructions. 1. Performs moderately complex technical functions in support of engineering activities such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical components and systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models or specialized test equipment. 2. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions. 3. Conducts engineering tests to collect design data or assist in general research work. 4. Diagnoses and isolates malfunctions, and makes necessary repairs. 5. Assists in the development of electronic equipment. 6. Repairs or modifies cables and equipment returned by operational users or by personnel in the associated test and development laboratories. 7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned. 8. Participates in special projects as required. Education Associates Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience. Qualifications 1-3 years of related experience fabricating, maintaining and repairing electronic components. Requires hands on mechanical/electrical skills. Recent hands-on experience with Surface Ship Electronic Warfare (EW) systems that include but are not limited to AN/SLQ-32B(V)2, MK53 and AN/SXX-1 systems and equipment. Additionally any hands-on experience with SRBOC/NULKA/RSL equipment is desired. 1. The work will be physically demanding to remove and reinstall EW equipment to include but is not limited to torquing the mounting hardware to as much as 175 FT-lbs, performance of sanding/surface preparation effort, and other work as required within an industrial environment. 2. Must have own hand tools. 3. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written form to subordinates, peers, supervisor, ship's force, MARMC personnel, and other personnel as directed. 4. Must be able to work effectively both alone and as part of a refurbishment team taking directions and providing support. 5. Travel will be required to support technical efforts aboard US Navy and US Coast Guard ships locally, out of town, and OCONUS as necessary. Must be able to obtain / maintain a contractor's badge and secret clearance. Valid driver's license is required.
